Cutting 1 of 6 positions at UW-Oshkosh saved $15M, but there's still a $3M shortfall - Kimberly Wethal, Madison.com

In a letter to faculty and staff Friday, Chancellor Andrew Leavitt wrote the estimated budget shortfall had decreased to about $3 million. It’s still a “significant gap,” Leavitt wrote — larger than the projected shortfalls at four of the other Universities of Wisconsin campuses as of August — but UW-Oshkosh has plans to make up the rest of the shortfall by June 2026. UW system administrators have told 11 of its 13 universities that are running some form of budgetary shortfall to close those gaps by 2028.
