University of Northern Colorado continues to feed students: ‘It feels kind of like Christmas Day’

Over the past year, visits to the university’s Bear Pantry, which provides food for the community, more than doubled. Thanks to a new partnership developed over the summer with the Weld Food Bank, UNC is now able to bring a mobile version of its food bank to campus monthly.

“UNC is committed to supporting our students in their academic success, health, and well-being. We know food insecurity is a critical part of that. 47% of our students have experienced some sort of food insecurity in the last 12 months. It’s a dramatic increase,” said John Hancock, UNC’s assistant vice president for wellness and support.
