Faces of PUC: Lydear Ang

Lydear Ang is one of our new Pioneers in this year’s freshman class. She is a music pre-med major from Modesto, CA, who started her music education at a young age. Lydear decided to further her studies in the field because music has always been one of her biggest passions. Additionally, she desired a well-rounded course of classes that incorporated the humanities alongside her science classes for her chosen pre-professional field.

“PUC is known for its robust science curriculum, which will provide me with the necessary guidance to prepare for my future career,” shared Lydear. “But a bonus is that PUC is only a 3-hour drive from home!”

What do you like the most about your program?

The music program is designed in a way to enable me to further my skills in music in a different way than before. But the most enjoyable aspect of my program is the people. The professors at PUC have been nothing but super approachable and helpful!

What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers family?

I love being a part of a close-knit community where I’m able to get to know people more personally. I also love how green PUC is, from the school color to the walks from class to class. Whenever I look around at the abundance of greenery and nature surrounding PUC, I marvel at God’s Creation.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I’d love to go country hopping in Asia, but if I had to choose one, it’d have to be Malaysia. I spent most of my childhood there, and I definitely miss the food there.

What is something you’re passionate about?

I am deeply passionate about sharing the love of God through music, and Connect Ministries has provided me with the perfect platform to do that. Cooking and exploring new recipes are also another passion of mine. I would do that every day and all day if someone else was willing to wash the dishes.

Do you have a favorite restaurant in the Napa Valley?

I would have to go with the classic- Gott’s down at St. Helena. Their fried avocado tacos never disappoint.

How would you describe your perfect weekend at PUC?

My perfect weekend would be going to church on Sabbath morning and taking a big nap right after lunch. After the nap, I like to walk to the back 40 or to Linda Falls (if it has been raining). On Sunday, I’d wake up early to go to the gym, shower, and start catching up on homework or prep for the next week.
