This post introduces Cassie Everly and Ahmed Zaid. Below, Cassie and Ahmed tell us about their professional background, what brought them to CG, and what makes them tick.

Cassie Everly

Cassie joined CG as a Campus Success Associate and was recently promoted to Campus Success Manager. Florida-based, she holds a Master’s in Education from the University of South Carolina.

In addition to being passionate about Higher Education and Student Affairs, Cassie, like many of our team members, loves to cook and travel. London is her all-time favorite city ! Cassie also has the most adorable mini-Goldendoodle called Charlie .

Ahmed Zaid

Ahmed is our .NET Developer. Based out of the Palestinian city of Ramallah in the West Bank, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Birzeit University.

A self-starter, Ahmed is always looking for ways to further his computer engineering skills. He is currently exploring Composite Design Patterns. Outside of work he loves to watch Anime and play computer games. Ahmed is also a big soccer fan. He supports Brazil in the World Cup and Real Madrid in the European Champions League.

Tell us about your professional background. What does your unique experience bring to the team and company?
Cassie:
Prior to joining the team at CG, I worked in higher education for close to 10 years, primarily in academic advising and career services. My previous experience in higher ed allows me to better connect with our Campus Partners, understand their perspectives, and advocate for their needs.
Ahmed:
I am a .Net Engineer with Azure experience (Microsoft cloud service and Azure blob storage service). Prior to joining CG, I built a Document Management system as a stand-alone service. The platform enabled documents to be uploaded, merged, edited, and attached to specific transactions.
Tell us a fun and surprising fact about yourself!
Cassie:
I became Ordained a few years ago to co-officiate my best friend’s wedding!
Ahmed:
I am a huge fan of television series. I am really into Anime and am currently enjoying Attack on Titan, which I would describe as the Anime version of Game of Thrones. My all-time favorite Anime is the critically acclaimed Japanese manga series Hunter x Hunter. Other series, I love include Breaking bad, Dark, Sherlock, Money Heist, House of cards, WestWorld, Stranger Things, Fargo, Narcos and many more!
What made you decide to join CampusGroups?
Cassie:
I became interested in CG after using the platform in my last role, where I served as Coordinator of Employer Relations and Internships at Flagler College. I wanted to join the Campus Success team because I enjoy building relationships and help campuses discover ways to utilize the platform to achieve their engagement goals. After meeting with different members of the CG and Campus Success teams, I knew I wanted to be part of the company.
Ahmed:
I liked the CG business model. It was easy to understand. I also love that, despite the breadth of the platform, there is a space and a constant push to add more features. Further, I liked the company culture. Yassine El Mane (Product Owner at CG) was very responsive and kind during the interview process.
What is it in this new adventure that drives/excites you?
Cassie:
I am most excited about all the growth we are seeing - from new campus partners to new CG team members to new platform features and functionality. It’s a very exciting time to be part of this team!
Ahmed:
I am always eager to learn new things (such as Design patterns) and enhance my software engineering skills. I am currently exploring Composite design patterns and the use cases for them. CG encourages this growth, which I love.
What is the app or software you can’t live without?
Cassie:
I use the Google Keep app daily. It is my go-to app for making shopping or packing lists, and it’s also a great way to take quick notes. You can even add collaborators to your notes and lists to keep others in the loop!
Ahmed:
WhatsApp. I use it to communicate with everyone, including family, friends, and professional relations.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Cassie:
I love to travel and explore new places. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing with my mini-goldendoodle Charlie, and finding new recipes to bake.
Ahmed:
During the work week, I like to go to the gym and workout. On the weekends, I spend my time between video games (General Zero Hour nowadays) and watching football (soccer). I am a Fan of Brazil and Real Madrid ❤️.
