The College for Creative Studies Welcomes Two New Members to the Alumni Council

The College for Creative Studies is thrilled to announce the appointment of Tracy Smith Irwin (’98) and Indigo Carr (‘19) to the Alumni Council. This addition further strengthens the bond between the College and its esteemed alumni community.

“I wholeheartedly welcome Indigo and Tracy to the Alumni Council,” said CCS Alumni Council President Antone Amye (‘00). “They have remained active with the College, having served in volunteer roles, and giving back to students through student projects and speaking engagements. Their enthusiasm for CCS excites me as we collectively engage with our fellow alumni and work towards advancing the CCS creative spirit.”

The CCS Alumni Council plays a vital role in fostering a strong relationship between the College and its alumni. Committed to keeping alumni informed and engaged, the Council actively promotes participation and philanthropy. By creating opportunities for alumni to connect, share, and celebrate the CCS community, the Council ensures a vibrant and supportive network for all graduates. Currently, the council Consists of 18 members representing various degree-granting departments, the Council represents the diverse talents and experiences of CCS alumni.

Tracy Smith Irwin brings a wealth of experience in the field of exhibitions and collections to the Alumni Council. With a career that began as an Exhibitions Manager at Detroit Artists Market, Tracy’s passion for showcasing art and history has been evident throughout her journey. Currently serving as the Chief Exhibitions and Enrichment Officer at the Detroit Historical Society, Tracy has consistently facilitated meaningful experiences for audiences and was named one of Crain’s “Notable Women in Design” in 2020. Tracy’s artistic journey began at CCS, where she earned a BFA in Fine Art in 1998.

Indigo Carr has also joined the CCS Alumni Council and has exhibited a continued dedication to CCS since her graduation in 2019 from the Illustration department. She has volunteered on panels for the Black Creatives Club and a CCS faculty day of training and has participated as an artist in the Alumni Exhibition and Noel Night. After three years in publishing, Indigo was offered the opportunity to work at MRM as a digital content artist on accounts including GM and OnStar. She also creates merchandise for her online storefront, Maid in Detroit. Her passion for Illustration and commitment to the CCS community make her a valuable addition to the Council.

CCS is excited to welcome both Tracy Smith Irwin and Indigo Carr to the Alumni Council. Their diverse backgrounds, experiences, and dedication to the arts will undoubtedly contribute to the positive impact the council fosters among the alumni network and CCS community.

In addition to the appointment of Irwin and Carr, the Alumni Council has also confirmed officers for the 2024 term– Antone Amye (’00, AD) has been reelected as President, John Kaloustian (’79, ID) as Vice President, and Laura Lybeer-Hilpert (’85, GC) as Secretary.
