President Gee weighs in on WVU’s budget deficit - WDTV

In a letter sent to WVU faculty, staff and students, Gee said “we are doing well” and “I can envision our university standing as one of the elite R1 institutions in the country.” Additionally, he said “We will be a system that meets the needs of the students, providing degrees and experiences that will lead to meaningful careers and productive lives.” Earlier this week, 5 News reported the university is facing significant staffing cuts due to their tightening budget and learned that some of the school’s most popular programs might also be getting the axe or rolled into one college. This all comes while the university faces declining enrollment post-pandemic.
