Dr Karlyn CrowleyTitle: Provost, Ohio Wesleyan University

Dr. Karlyn Crowley began her tenure as provost on July 1, 2020 as the senior officer overseeing Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU)’s academics and operations. She previously served as interim assistant vice president for academic affairs and as an English professor at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin. “Karlyn listens, analyzes, and accomplishes — helping to guide change with an unwavering focus on ensuring the best experience possible for students,” wrote Dr. Rock Jones, OWU’s president, when announcing her appointment. “Like Ohio Wesleyan, Karlyn is deeply committed to the value and power of the residential liberal arts experience.” Crowley earned a doctorate in English and a master’s degree in English with a certificate in women’s studies from the University of Virginia. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and women’s and gender studies from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She is author of Feminism’s New Age: Gender, Appropriation, and the Afterlife of Essentialism.
