Nourishing Hearts and Minds: Academic Advisors at Marshall University Give Back to Students by Donating to the Campus Food Pantry during the Second Annual Academic Advisor Summer Retreat.

Almost half of all college students in the United States are food insecure.
The struggle of food insecurity is real at Marshall University and in the Huntington community.

A service project at a recent retreat for Academic Advisors brought together a group of individuals dedicated to making a positive impact.

With the goal of addressing food insecurity on campus and in the community, the retreat organizers planned a food donation drive.
The retreat provided an ideal platform for participants to reflect on their roles and contribute to a cause greater than themselves.

The food donation drive profoundly impacted the participants, fostering both unity and empathy.
Academic advisors expressed gratitude for being part of the initiative, recognizing the significance of their roles in addressing student needs on campus.
Beyond addressing food insecurity, the project prompted reflection on the broader implications of their work and the importance of holistic student development.
