Faces of PUC: Bailey Stockton

Memphis, Tennessee, native Bailey Stockton is a double major in pre-law and psychology. After two years at La Sierra University, she felt a strong urge to make a change in her academic journey. At that point, Pacific Union College, which promised a more tranquil and rewarding spiritual environment, came into view. Not only did PUC’s physical calm appeal to Bailey, but the idea of attending an academic environment more in line with her intellectual requirements and personal development also did. She longed to be in an environment where people actively encouraged my academic success rather than merely expected it.

What made you choose your major?

The complex dance between the legal system and the human mind holds the key to the solution. The mystery of human behavior and the organized intricacy of legal systems both aroused my interest. This dual route offered an exploration of the depths of human cognition and the complexities of social governance.

What do you like the most about your program?

It’s definitely the dynamics of the small school. Peer, faculty, and subject ties at PUC are substantial entanglements that enhance the educational experience, not merely contacts. The psychology department distinguishes out in this tight-knit community by consistently providing support with life decisions, job choices, and spiritual counsel. My intellectual and personal journeys have been greatly influenced by this intricately linked world.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Pioneers family?

Joining the PUC Pioneers family is like becoming a single stitch in a vast and varied tapestry of viewpoints and experiences. Thanks to this community, I have had unmatched possibilities for friendships, education, and personal development. My perspective has been widened and my daily life has been greatly improved by the variety of ideas and backgrounds in our family.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I have always had a deep love for traveling. After traveling to twenty-four nations, my heart aches to go back to Africa, to Ghana, in particular. There’s something magical about the place, an untapped cultural depth that I think we Americans tend to overlook. I find the festivities, the sense of community, and the simple enjoyment of each other’s company to be incredibly enlightening and educating.

What is something you’re passionate about?

Another area that interests me is mental health. My perspective on the resiliency of the human spirit has been heightened by learning about how people deal with life’s obstacles as a result of trauma or mental health conditions. This knowledge constantly modifies my viewpoints and deepens my everyday exchanges with others, making every human contact an intriguing case study in complexity and resilience.

Do you have a favorite place to eat in the Napa Valley?

Situated not far from Napa, the RH Yountville Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in terms of food experiences. This is more than simply a restaurant; it’s a gourmet sanctuary where the ambiance, the locally sourced ingredients, and the delicious dishes like the shaved

rib eye on charred garlic toast with fusilli pasta combine to create a flavorful symphony.

How would you describe your perfect weekend at PUC?

Campus waffles and a prayer session kick off the weekend, laying the groundwork for a spiritually nourishing weekend. After that, I take a restorative yoga class, have a delicious brunch at RH Yountville, and take a charming trip to the Napa outlets. Having a post-church café cappuccino, chatting with other churchgoers, and helping out in the church kitchen are some of the delights that come with Saturday. A delicious dinner at Farmstead completes the day, capping off a weekend that is the ideal balance of spirituality, leisure, and culinary extravagance. This isn’t just a routine; it’s a journey through all the different aspects of my life at PUC, with every passing moment contributing to my ever-growing experience bank.
