Governors Address Broadband Issues in State of States 2023 - Governing

Governors are going deep on broadband. Whether an incumbent or newly elected, thanks to a historic infusion of federal funds, governors cited the millions in investment going to bolstering connectivity within their borders, with many getting specific about residents and businesses slated for high-speed Internet: Missouri Gov. Mike Parson mentioned $250 million to expand broadband to connect every household, business, school and farm in the state; Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen talked about the newly created Nebraska Broadband Office, whose focus is statewide broadband as well; and West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice proclaimed the state was “halfway home” in making use of its $1 billion public/private broadband expansion fund.
