University of Toledo cutting some ‘low-demand degree programs,’ merging others

The University of Toledo is cutting “low-demand degree programs” beginning in the fall 2025 school year, a spokesperson told WTOL 11 on Monday.

The cuts are meant to ensure the university provides degrees that students want and industries demand as part of an overall academic prioritization process, according to university spokesperson Tyrel Linkhorn.

Some suspended programs are being merged into similar degree programs. The Bachelor of Arts degree in media communications will become a concentration within the existing communication studies major and the Master of Cyber Security program will suspend admissions and merge with the field’s existing Master of Science degree.
