Student Organization Engagement and Involvement
Dear Students:
VCU remains mindful of the importance of the safety of all students who are a part of the VCU community and is committed to raising safety awareness whenever possible.
The Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity and Fraternity & Sorority Life have received numerous reports that former members of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity are attempting to operate under the guise of an unrecognized group called Rose Club. The National Headquarters of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity revoked the charter of the local chapter, effective January 18, 2023. VCU suspended university recognition of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity through May 15, 2025. The Registered Student Organization Conduct Report provides students and parents historical context of organizations that have been found responsible for hazing and other violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
We caution students and parents that Rose Club is not an officially recognized student organization at VCU and has no connection to the University or the national Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity organization. We have significant concerns about the risk to health and safety of students who participate in Rose Club activities. Students and student organizations, including fraternities and sororities, are strongly discouraged from engaging in any activities or events with suspended organizations or unrecognized groups such as Rose Club.
We further remind you that VCU conduct policies provide amnesty from disciplinary action based on personal consumption of alcohol or drugs to students who seek emergency or timely medical assistance for themselves or others due to the use of alcohol or other drugs and for students who report hazing or acts of sexual violence. Collectively, we can all promote the health and safety of students and the VCU community as a whole.
