After multiple blue-ribbon panels and meetings across the higher education industry, ACE gave the public the first glimpse of what the Carnegie classifications may look like in 2025. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the final results, but the most concrete change is to the coveted Research I university criteria.

TWU has created a centralized Office of Institutional Research and Data Management, which increases the ability to quickly and accurately make data-informed decisions. In Fall 2021 and Fall 2022, the average course load for Latino students was 14.5 In 2021-22, SSIs served a combined 2,193 Latino students.

In 2015 the creation of Degree Apprenticeships added a recognised further addition to ‘teaching’ in higher education, offering a form of ‘professional’ or ‘technical’ research. Providers were to ‘specialise in working with industry and employers’. The RAE was replaced in 2014 by the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

Our survey found that the relationship between Institutional Research (and/or Institutional Effectiveness) tends to be transactional, where the Cabinet requests a specific answer, report, or dashboard from IR, and IR satisfies the requests. Partner with an industry specialist when making technology investments.
