Schwandt knows Ridgewater and its communities well, having served as an academic advisor and part-time diversity officer and Multicultural Club advisor for years, as well as recent interim DEI director.

Mantella, president of Grand Valley State, issued and completed a 15-point plan for racial equity as a clear statement on providing foundational knowledge around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and emphasizing commitment to the university’s values. Faculty presented on the following topics: assessment cycle, basic terminology, data ethics, writing learning and program outcomes, basic quantitative and qualitative methods, and report results. This track was ideal for someonne who was new to new to assessment, regardless of thier position. Our day 1 keynote speaker was Dr. becky martinez.
