Emilio Flores/Cal State LA California State University faculty have voted to authorize a strike, in pursuit of higher pay, lower class sizes, and more manageable workloads, the Press-Telegram reported. Members of the California Faculty Association — a union representing 29,000 lecturers, librarians, counselors, and other employees — voted 95% in favor of authorizing a walkout, CFA said in an Oct. 30 statement.

Students Who Register for December ACT Test Eligible for Free Re-Take and "Superscore"

Students registering to take the ACT standardized exam this December can receive an additional credit that can be used to take another ACT test for free. The results of both tests can then be combined into a “superscore,” which will take a student’s best performances across both tests and put them into one score in order to represent that student’s capabilities in each subject.

The U.S. Education Department is fining Grand Canyon University $37.7 million, saying the for-profit Christian school misrepresented the costs of its doctoral programs.
